Red Bull has been facing an extremely difficult time in managing both the drivers to continue scoring well. While Max Verstappen has continued to score impressive results, Sergio Perez is currently in a massive slump. The Mexican driver has failed to score major points over the recent few races. Despite a two-year contract extension for the 34-year-old, Perez hasn’t improved in results since then.

Sergio Perez faced an extremely unfortunate situation at the British GP Qualifying. The Mexican driver is expected to start scoring better results amidst his two-year contract extension. However, Perez has now succumbed to his third Q1 Qualifying elimination in the 2024 season. Hence, Perez will start the British GP from the bottom five of the grid.

Perez had just switched to the slicks compound after driving the Inter tires around the wet Silverstone circuit. The Mexican driver could’ve set a great pace and lap time after fitting the soft tires early.

However, the 34-year-old beached his car and put an early end to his Q1 qualifying session by running on the gravel. As a result, the 34-year-old will have to work extra hard in the British GP to score any points down the race.

Fans were upset with Sergio Perez’s repeated failing performances in the 2024 season

In a recent tweet on X, multiple fans showcased their resentment towards Perez’s performance. One fan claimed that the Mexican was the ‘biggest fraud’ and questioned the reason behind the driver still having a seat. Additionally, another fan labeled the 34-year-old as the ‘worst driver’ to ever exist in the history of Formula 1.

Meanwhile, a particular fan noted that this incident was possibly the ‘end’ of Sergio Perez’s career. Subsequently, one fan added that Perez’s contract needed to be terminated immediately and replaced by Daniel Ricciardo. Due to such performances, a fan claimed that the contract extension was possibly the ‘biggest mistake’ by Red Bull.

Hence, Sergio Perez currently runs the highest risk of being replaced by Daniel Ricciardo in the coming season. Despite the Mexican driver having a contract extension, anything could happen for his future in the pinnacle of motorsport. As a result, Perez will have to continue to score much better results than this if he wants to clinch the Red Bull seat.
