Moreover, Perez was expected to perform well at the Mexican GP’s home race. However, the 34-year-old has faced a Q1 exit from the qualifying session.

Christian Horner had great hopes for an impressive performance from the local hero Sergio Perez. The massive fan support and love that Checo receives in Mexico was expected to motivate the driver. Meanwhile, another fan labeled Sergio Perez as the ‘worst driver’ in the history of Formula 1. Others called Perez a ‘joke’ of a driver due to such disastrous performances while Max Verstappen tried his best on the track. Apart from this, some fans noted that they weren’t surprised with such a disappointing performance from the Mexican.

Red Bull’s championship lead is already ruined due to Sergio Perez’s performances. However, Oscar Piastri’s Q1 exit alongside Perez might pose further implications for McLaren in the standings. Both the championships are currently all to win as multiple drivers and teams set their eyes on the prize.
