Oscar Piastri’s rear wing came under scrutiny after he fended off Charles Leclerc to win the Azerbaijan GP. At high speed, a gap appeared in the rear wing, which some believed gave him a speed advantage. McLaren insisted that the wing complied with regulations, despite questions from rival teams. Ferrari faced frustration during the recent practice session for the Singapore GP. Leclerc matched Lando Norris’s pace and was considered faster in FP1, but Norris ultimately topped the timesheet in FP2.
The controversy surrounding McLaren’s rear wing began in Baku but has roots in earlier events, leading teams to seek clarification from the FIA. The stewards told McLaren to make the wing comply with regulations after reviewing the situation, despite it passing initial checks. Fred Vasseur was confused about the wing rules, He thought that if the FIA said the wing was legal, McLaren shouldn’t use it without problems. However, he felt the stewards were sending mixed signals, creating uncertainty. Though he wanted to move on, he found it difficult to accept that something could be legal one moment and questioned later.
I'm trying to put the situation behind me, but I don't understand. If a wing is legal, I can use it, if I can't use it, it's not legal!Fred Vasseur told Formula1a.uno
Vasseur expressed his frustration about the Ferrari’s performance. He highlighted how close they were in Monza, with six cars separated by just a few hundredths of a second. He also referenced the intense battle in Baku, where Charles Leclerc raced side by side with Oscar Piastri for many laps. Vasseur emphasized that small differences in performance can have a huge impact on race outcomes.
It's frustrating for us , if you think about how close we were in Monza, with 6 cars in a few hundredths, or in Baku with Charles who fought side by side with Piastri for many laps.Fred Vasseur said.
Fred Vasseur asserts lot’s of good opportunities after great start at the Singapore GP
Vasseur doesn’t want to get discouraged or dwell on the controversy now. Ferrari has started the weekend great so they want to Focus there. He believed there will be time to revisit the issues later, but right now, he wants to concentrate on the upcoming races. He pointed out there are still seven more races ahead, which present great opportunities for the team to perform well.
There will be time to talk about it again. Let’s focus on Singapore, where we started well, and then on the other 7 races . Lots of opportunities to do a good job!Fred Vasseur Stated.
Certainly, By shifting their focus to what lies ahead, he hoped to motivate the team to work hard and achieve good results. Vasseur believed that staying positive and looking forward is the best way to move past setbacks. Ferrari currently sits third in the championship and has a strong chance of securing at least second place. This is partly due to Red Bull facing a performance slump.
