Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has spoken about the team’s chances at the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix. Vasseur claimed that the Maranello-based team is not hopeful of performing strongly at Zandvoort in comparison to the other races.
Ferrari has been a struggling force since its win at Monaco this campaign. The outfit has amassed the fewest points out of Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes in the past seven races, despite a strong start to the season.
Fred Vasseur has talked of the dire need to introduce new parts and upgrades in the SF-24 with hopes of bringing back their lost pace on track. However, Vasseur has identified the tracks of Monza, Marina Bay, and Baku as ones where he expects the 2024 Ferrari challenger to perform well.
We are pushing like hell. I think Monza, Singapore and Baku will be more congenial tracks for us, less so Zandvoort. We will have to try to limit the damage there and we will try to introduce new parts as soon as possible.Fred Vasseur via Formu1a.uno
The Italian outfit is currently on the verge of dropping out of the title race in light of their recent performances. They will now have to desperately perform after the summer break in hopes of notching wins and podiums.
Ferrari ‘almost at the limit’ with developments this season
Ferrari has looked miles off the pace as compared to McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull in the past few weeks. Fred Vasseur has also admitted that the team’s developments have taken a hit, which has hindered their performance.
We are all a bit at the limit of development , and it is not like in the past where you can easily find performance in the tunnel. Everyone is pushing and improving.Fred Vasseur via Formu1a.uno
Vassuer claimed that the top teams on the grid have been more successful overall in their upgrades than Ferrari this season. He then said that the team has struggled to unlock pace for the SF-24 over the previous months or so.
The Maranello-based outfit has scored 345 points after 14 races this season, which is significantly higher than their tally in 2023. But the Reds have not been on the same competent levels as they were at start of 2024, which is a cause of concern for Vasseur.
