Ferrari has come extremely close to McLaren in the 2024 constructors championship. Woking leads the pack with a mere 30 points heading into the penultimate race of the season. McLaren has a chance at becoming the champions this weekend if they finish the race with a 45-point lead. Hence, despite a mediocre qualifying session, Ferrari’s Fred Vasseur refuses to lose hope in the fierce battle.
McLaren scored massive points in the sprint already after attaining a one-two finish. Moreover, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri qualified in P3 and P4 for the main race ahead of Charles Leclerc down in P5. As a result, both the Ferrari drivers will have to work extremely hard on track to move up the pecking order and score good points.
Fred Vasseur refused to give up hope until the last moment, claiming it wasn’t over until it was over. The Ferrari boss anticipates competition until the last turn of the last race. Subsequently, the Frenchman pointed out that the team tried to extract the maximum performance available in the setup. Vasseur noted that poor tire management was another reason behind the ‘oscillating’ lap times in the session.
Fred: "It's not over until it's over – the last turn of the last race. We tried to get the best out of this setup, we didn't want it to go too much towards Q, it's more a matter of tyre management which is what also caused the laptimes to oscillate so much during the session."

Fred Vasseur warned the Ferrari drivers to ‘not be silly’
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz clashed heads at the Las Vegas GP as the race ended in a heated exchange of words between Leclerc and the team. Hence, Fred Vasseur believed that the drivers needed to work together to maximize opportunities for the team. Moreover, Vasseur demanded that Leclerc and Sainz didn’t need to be silly and waste crucial opportunities.
Fred: "We need a good start tomorrow for sure, and for our drivers to work together to maximise our chances. I mean, we must try to not be silly and waste opportunities, and to use that pressure against McLaren instead."

With just two races pending this season, both teams will give it their all for the championship win. The end-of-the-season battle will put forth an extremely interesting matchup between the top drivers. Moreover, Leclerc continues to inch closer to Lando Norris for the runner-up spot in the drivers championship.
