Alpine on Friday at the Spanish GP announced that Flavio Briatore has returned to Enstone as an Executive Advisor. FIA had banned the Italian for life over the infamous Crashgate scandal in 2008. However this ban was overturned in 2013.

Flavio Briatore was asked after the announcement weather he has any message for the ones who are unhappy to see him in F1 again. He replied ‘F**k off’. When asked about planning a return to Formula 1 for long time, Briatore responded, “Not really.” The 74-year-old mentioned that he knew Renault Chairman Luca de Meo, very well and respects him a lot. De Meo faced challenges with teams performance and approached the Italian to become the Executive Advisor. This was discussed for two or three months or even longer before reaching an agreement.

F**k off... I know the chairman of Renault, Luca de Meo, very well and have lots of respect. He met some difficulties in the performance of the team. He asked if it was possible for me to be the executive advisor of the chairman. We negotiated for two or three months, maybe more.

Flavio Briatore assures Bruno Famin will remain Alpine’s team principal.

Briatore while talking to media made it clear, he is not assuming the role of team principal since Bruno Famin was already in charge. He expressed he’s in the team to work for everyone, work for Luca De Meo and report to him. The 74-year-old will work together as a team to achieve the best possible performance for the team.

No, no. Team principal? We have a team principal, we have Bruno. No problem at all. I’m working with Bruno, I’m working with everybody. For me, I’m working with Luca. This is my job, I report to him and we try together to get the best performance for the team.

The Italian made it clear he does not handle other tasks like changing the tires or driving the car. His main focus is on making the team competitive and this is possible within two years. The old man highlights his desire to contribute positively to the team. Briatore acknowledged, the effective leadership of team principal Famin and praised the organization’s teamwork. He expressed confidence that they would bring together everything smoothly to achieve success.

I’m not changing the tires yet. I don’t want to change the tires, I don’t want to drive the car. I just want to be competitive. In two years’ time, we will be there. I want to give my contribution. We have a team principal who is doing a very good job, we have an organization working together and I’m sure we’ll put everything together in a very short time.
