The Fred Vasseur-led Ferrari F1 team has not had the best times in 2024. Since Monaco, the outfit has been on a surprising downward spiral, and Vasseur has urged his team to put their best foot from Budapest onwards.
The Hungarian Grand Prix weekend is just around the corner and Fred Vasseur feels, it is high time for Ferrari to start punching in solid results. At Silverstone, the outfit was only able to muster up 11 points with Charles Leclerc finishing outside the points-giving positions.
As things stand, the Maranello-based team is fourth-fastest on the grid.
Development steps are now becoming visible again. In the past, hardly anyone noticed a two-tenth improvement. Now it can move you from fifth place to first. It means daring to step out of the comfort zone. Whether it’s the fuel amount for the race, the weight, the cooling, the car set-up.Fred Vasseur via Auto Motor Und Sport
The 56-year-old via his reaction, has left no stone unturned in urging his team to push the limits to find additional performance. The gap at the front of the field is extremely small, and thus, Vassuer is hopeful of closing it by encouraging his team to do everything to the best of their ability.
Fred Vasseur’s take on SF-24’s incessant ‘bouncing’ issue
Since the last few races, Ferrari’s challenger has been having trouble running smoothly, especially in high-speed straight-line sectors. Both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have complained of bouncing and this is something, that Vasseur wants to rectify via an update.
Bouncing has massively hampered Ferrari’s pace against the lights of McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull.
At the beginning, one will have to decide to create a state without bouncing and sacrifice a bit of lap time. The goal, however, must be to sort out the parts responsible for the bouncing with an upgrade.Fred Vasseur said in the same interview
The 2024 F1 season is 12 rounds down with another 12 remaining on the calendar. Ferrari is currently 71 points behind Red Bull in the Constructors Championship and considering this, the Italian outfit can still turn things around if it starts performing consistently from the Hungarian GP race weekend onwards. Quite a few eyes would be glued on them at the Hungaroring to see how they would perform around the technical 4.381 km circuit.
