I had no idea I was going to be sat next to Harry [Styles]. First time I met him, typical guy. We all shared like a special moment when England scored all jumping up and hugging, and I looked and forgot my girlfriend was sat next to me. Then I had to console a loss there and she obviously got the last laugh.

Regardless, Russell took to Instagram and claimed that it was an ‘incdredible’ feeling coming to the top step and recalled his 34-lap hard tire stint. Additionally, the 26-year-old noted that the one-two proved that the hard work for the team was ‘paying off’ well.

From P6 to the top step, what an incredible feeling! Running the hard tyres for 34 laps was a risk but it paid off. Heading into the break with a 1-2 shows all the hard work is paying off. We always believed and will never stop. Let’s go team.
