George Russell has vested faith his team to fight against the likes of McLaren and Red Bull in Spa. The Belgian Grand Prix is the last race on the 2024 Formula One calendar before the summer break.
Mercedes have picked up the pace after a disappointing start to the season, securing two wins in the last three races. The Brackley-based team brought significant upgrades to Barcelona and Montreal, which have worked wonders for them.
George Russell has talked of the W15’s ability to perform better around cooler circuits as compared to hotter ones. The Silver Arrows will bring a set of new upgrades to the 7.004-kilometer-long track this weekend.
Going into Spa, I think there is rain on the forecast and we have some upgrades which is really exciting to see if it can take us to the next step after what we brought to Canada a few races ago. We want to take the fight to the McLarens and to Red Bull. That is what Formula 1 is about and we want to be in the fight.George Russell told the media including RacingNews365
Russell will now be keen on extracting maximum performance out of the revamped W15 around Spa-Francorchamps. The Belgian Grand Prix will further test the abilities of Mercedes, McLaren, and Red Bull through its long straights and high-speed corners to see who comes out on top at the end of 44 laps.
Andrew Shovlin confirms post-race testing at Spa for Andrea Kimi Antonelli
Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin has confirmed that Andrea Kimi Antonelli will make runs in the W13 post-Belgian GP. This would be Kimi Antonelli’s fifth TPC (testing previous cars) outing in recent time.
We've got more events planned, so we're doing a day with him here in Spa after the weekend, and then we've got other events further into the year. But it's all going well, and the programs now will drift towards teaching him how you need to refine the approach to qualifying, how you refine the approach to long runs.Andrew Shovlin spoke to the media including RacingNews365
Shovlin has claimed that test runs will be an effective tool for the Italian youngster in qualifying and long race pace. The F2 Prema racing sensation is heavily rumored to drive for the Silver Arrows in the upcoming season.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s performances in the F2 championship will play a major role in determining his chances for next season. Until then, the 17-year-old will continue to give his best efforts in the junior category with hopes of earning a promotion to F1.
