The Mercedes F1 team has not got off to the best of starts during the ongoing 2024 F1 season. The outfit is currently the fourth-fastest team on the grid but despite this, George Russell feels his team can start fighting at the front by the British GP.

Toto Wolff and Co. have been regularly coming up with upgrades for the W15. At the Monaco event, they ran an updated front wing on George Russell‘s car that brought some added performance.

Seeing the trajectory of the Brackley-based team, Russell is optimistic about mixing things up with the lights of McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull by the Silverstone race weekend.

Always really excited to go to Silverstone, but I think we are on a really good trajectory at the moment. We are bringing upgrades really quickly to the car, which we are confident will bring performance. We know from the past we are really good at building throughout the season so we are hoping by Silverstone we are going to be in that fight with the guys in front of us.
George Russell said in an interview with GPBlog

Looking at the reaction of the 26-year-old, it is quite clear that he is immensely pleased with how things are developing on the Mercedes F1 team. Moreover, keeping in view the trajectory, he genuinely feels his team will be locking horns with the front running outfits in Silverstone. The 5.891 km circuit has traditionally suited the German outfit.

George Russell claims things are more ‘consistent’ because of the F1 European leg

While Russell has made it known that things are on the up at Mercedes, he is also quite pleased with the consistency the European leg has brought. Most of the races in the ongoing leg are slated to be run in the traditional format.

During the initial few rounds, the teams had to deal with long travels, sprint formats, and street circuits, among quite a few other things.

I think now we are entering the European season things are a little bit more consistent, less Sprint races as well.

The ongoing campaign is only eight rounds down and 16 Grand Prix remaining on the calendar. The Brackley-based team thus, still has to chance to have a major say in the Championship fight.

However, in order to do that, Russell and co. need to start coming up with consistent performances. The Canadian GP could prove to be the perfect launching pad for the team toward the extreme north end of the grid.
