Former Austrian motorsports racer Gerhard Berger has shared his verdict on Red Bull’s dip in performances this season in Formula 1. The Milton Keynes-based outfit has now failed to win any of the last eight races and is currently second in the Constructors’ Championship.
Red Bull started the campaign looking to continue their dominance from the previous season. They won seven of the first ten races, which put them on course for another successful year. All has since gone downhill for the reigning champions, who have been regularly outpaced by McLaren and Ferrari.
Berger has deemed the departure of key personnel as the reason behind the team’s woes. He says that the instability caused by changing the structure of the squad has been difficult for Red Bull.
The Milton-Keynes-based team is hopeful to regain some of their lost form at the upcoming race in Austin this weekend. A major chunk of their performance will now rather depend upon the internal harmony within the squad.
Former world champion pips Ferrari to challenge Red Bull in the remaining races of the season
Jenson Button has claimed that Red Bull will be unsuccessful in challenging McLaren in terms of pace until the end of the season. The Papayas have had a meteoric rise in their performances ever since the resumption after the summer break this year.
Jenson Button thinks that Ferrari stand a strong chance of beating Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship this year. He, however, stated that the Milton Keynes-based team will try their best to defend their title.
Red Bull have won the Grand Prix in Austin for the past three years. The team’s chances will be different this time around as they look to fend off their rivals to make a return to the top step.
