Red Bull technical advisor Helmut Marko has shared his thoughts on Sergio Perez‘s future with the team. The Mexican has been an underperformer for the Milton Keynes-based team throughout the current Formula 1 campaign.
Sergio Perez signed a contract extension with Red Bull this season to drive for them until the end of 2026. However, he has failed to live up to any of his contractual obligations concerning performance this season. Much debate has flared up about his future with the team in 2025.
Helmut Marko has declared that the six-time race winner’s future will be decided after the Abu Dhabi GP. The 81-year-old is nevertheless amused at the Mexican’s comments about assuring fans of his stay in 2025.

While some of Perez’s poor runs can be attributed to the team’s poorly developed RB20, a lot of it, however, points towards his skills as a driver. He now finds himself on the backfoot heading into the Qatar Grand Prix this weekend.

Former Swiss driver Marc Surer has criticized Sergio Perez after a dismal outing in Las Vegas. The Red Bull driver started P16 on the grid after a lackluster qualifying run and finished P10 in the race. He has now failed to secure a podium in over 15 races for Red Bull this campaign.
Surer has claimed that Perez should have announced his retirement after the Mexican Grand Prix. Rumors spread that the 34-year-old was considered retiring because of his poor runs. But Perez quashed all speculation via a social media post.

Perez’s inability to contribute to Red Bull has landed them third in the constructors’ championship. They now face steep competition from McLaren and Ferrari. The Milton Keynes-based team are on course to lose their hold on that title this season.
