Red Bull Technical Advisor Helmut Marko has spoken on the current situation of RB reserve driver Liam Lawson. The latter is currently one of the key prospects for a move to the starting lineup in Formula One next season.

Liam Lawson made his first run at the pinnacle of motorsport last year, filling in for an injured Daniel Ricciardo. The 22-year-old’s performance caught the eye of many, as he scored points in only his third ever outing on track.

We will announce what happens next with Liam Lawson in September. It has been planned for some time that he would be able to gain more F1 experience in Imola. Even though the competition would like to use him on loan, he is not available for that.

Lawson has clearly stated his unwillingness to join a team on loan, which leaves Red Bull in a compelling position. The Milton-Keynes-based outfit will now weigh their options before delivering a proper verdict in September.

Daniel Ricciardo shares on the strengths and weaknesses of RB

Visa Cash App RB driver Daniel Ricciardo has been far from impressive in his performances this campaign. Ricciardo has blamed the RB’s VCARB 01 on numerous occasions for his poor run and has highlighted some issues with it.

I still feel like our strengths are in a little bit more the lower speed stuff and our weaknesses are a bit more in the real quick stuff. I think real high speed we still got to work on a bit, but all the kind of tighter, twistier stuff we seem to be alright.

Ricciardo deemed the VCARB 01 to be effective on the low speed corners of a track that are of a tighter nature. The eight-time Grand Prix winner then claimed that the high speed regions have been-a prolonged weakness of the team in 2024.

RB has shown signs of improvement on a few race weekends while being perennially substandard in others. The Red Bull sister outfit will now work on their shortfalls during the summer break to perform in a better manner from the Dutch GP onwards.
