Lewis Hamilton is all set to debut with Ferrari in the 2025 season alongside Charles Leclerc. Both drivers will form a highly formidable pair with one another. However, Hamilton might face struggles initially due to Leclerc’s superiority in qualifying performances. Ex-F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya issued a warning to the Briton ahead of his imminent debut.
Charles Leclerc previously noted that he would give it his all while going up against Lewis Hamilton. The 40-year-old’s extreme qualifying struggles might ease up the competition for Leclerc. Juan Pablo Montoya revealed that Hamilton is mature enough to accept his struggles to learn the ways of Ferrari in the initial days.
Lewis is mature enough to appreciate that in the short-term he is going to struggle a little bit, learning the Ferrari thing.

Montoya further highlighted that Leclerc would feel that he’s got the upper hand going up against Hamilton during the latter’s struggles. However, within six or seven races, the Briton would get used to racing with the team and start to dominate the playing field. This means that the Monegasque must continue to find improvement in performance throughout the season.
Charles [Leclerc] is going to feel like he’s got the upper hand. But give it about six or seven races, and if the car is competitive, Lewis is going to win everything.

Lewis Hamilton needs to make Ferrari stint ‘work’
All the Tifosi around the world have banked high hopes on Lewis Hamilton to return Ferrari to their glory days. As such, Hamilton must ensure that he achieves the maximum possible with the Italian constructor. Ex-Haas F1 team boss Guenther Steiner reckoned that for around six months, no driver would attack the 40-year-old. However, once the Briton faces competition, he would have to deal with the constant criticism. This meant that the seven-time champion must focus on making his Ferrari stint work.

He will have got what you call it, a period of time, where nobody will attack him. It’s not going to be two years, it’s going to be six months. Then the pressure will start to come and the criticism. Everything he does will be second-guessed and questioned. But you’ve got a period of time where you can make it work, and you just need to focus on that to make it work.
Guenther Steiner told GPblog
Ferrari’s recently improved performance is already a highly positive point for Hamilton ahead of his debut. The 40-year-old has already left the rivals in the dust during the various testing sessions. Hence, the Briton must prepare for going up against Leclerc and minimizing errors on track to gain the upper hand from the get-go.
