Former Colombian racer Juan Pablo Montoya has criticized Visa Cash App RB driver Liam Lawson for his performances. Lawson has been battling Red Bull’s Sergio Perez over the course of the past few races in Formula 1.

Liam Lawson made his full-time debut at the United States Grand Prix, replacing Daniel Ricciardo for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old was involved in a heated tussle with Sergio Perez at the Mexican GP, where the former finished P16. Lawson’s intentions have since been scrutinized by many.

Juan Pablo Montoya has said that the 22-year-old did nothing but steal points from his parent team’s side. He nevertheless stated that the New Zealand driver has a point to prove against Perez on track.

I understand that he wants to prove that he is better, that Checo is ‘nobody’ and he is capable of anything, but the only thing Liam is doing is stealing points from Red Bull for the Constructors’ World Championship.

Perez, who has a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2026, has been massively inconsistent this season. Reports claim that the Mexican might be sacked before the start of the upcoming season.

Colapinto deserves a race seat. But there might not be one available. It’s very simple. Everybody is saying he will take the Perez seat. But Perez is there, and he’s under contract. It’s been 10 months now that people have been saying Perez is out at the next race. Stop saying it. He has a contract. He brings sponsorship and stability to the team.

Perez’s struggles have been prevalent since the start of the 2023 season. His last win was in Azerbaijan last year, following which he has secured 10 podiums. While some of his issues might be the fault of Red Bull’s machinery, the others can solely be traced to his inability on track.
