The race in Bristol has often been a fan favorite throughout the years. The half-mile track has provided fans with entertainment over decades and anticipated the Bass Pro Shops Night race to be one of those bangers. Kyle Larson displayed sheer dominance with his racing skills and led the race for a mind-boggling 462 laps. On the contrary, fans voted the race in Bristol as one of the most boring in recent history, which the 32-year-old was unhappy with as he lashed back at fans for their duality.

Alex Bowman started the race from pole and led the race for quite a fair bit. However, on lap 35, Kyle Larson took the lead from his teammate and never looked back since. He led a staggering 462 laps out of the 500 laps and was considered by many as one of the most historic dominant drives ever made in the history of NASCAR, as Larson asserted himself in the world of motorsports.

On the other hand, Jeff Gluck’s poll results showed a disappointing result as a mere 27.2 percent of fans reckoned the race was good. This statistic did not leave the HM driver content as he put down a possible situation where fans would have liked the race much more if he had lost the race in the final few laps.

Lead 450 laps but have 2 overtime restarts and lose and I guarantee the percentage is flip flopped. That’s our fan base.
Kyle Larson wrote on X.

The former Cup Series champion said hypothetically if he had lost the race win after leading more than 450 laps, and then lost the seemingly landslide victory due to an overtime restart, then the percentage ratio would have been flipped. Moreover, his statement explained how late race drama played a key role in making a race entertaining while questioning the values of fans on how they rate a race.

NASCAR fanbase pushes back on Kyle Larson’s claims

Though Larson remained unhappy with fans’ response to the race in Bristol, it was not the whole story that the HM driver made it seem. The race in Bristol is known for its action-packed nature, the race this time around remained calm and collected as drivers were stuck in a slipstream train and were unable to overtake their rivals.

Subsequently, fans punched back on Larson’s allegations and explained about their reasoning for not liking the race.

Most fans explained how the race was not filled with any on-track action. Though they admitted that the No.5 driver made stellar moves across the field to take back the lead, a similar feat was not achieved by other drivers. On the contrary, some fans made a sarcastic reply as they recommended Larson to come out of his delusion of thinking that the NASCAR world revolves around him while other factors also come into play more often than not.

Apart from this, the next race would be held around the Kansas Speedway, where the 32-year-old emerged as victorious when NASCAR last visited the track. Thus, he would like to add another win in his already dominant season and charge towards the elusive title in the subsequent rounds.
