Formula 1 drivers often do not give up motorsports completely even after exiting the sport. Multiple drivers resort to driving under different categories with others joining managerial roles. However, F1 legend Juan Pablo Montoya has once again re-ignited his motorsports passion by partaking in the race at Watkins Glen.

Juan Pablo Montoya‘s re-entry into NASCAR is a part of Mobil 1’s 50th anniversary. Montoya will drive the 23Xl Racing No. 50 Cup car in the race. The team is owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan.

Hence, the Colombian driver’s drive around the circuit after such a long time would be an awesome spectacle. Notably, Montoya will race at the 2024 Watkins Glen International and will witness him racing in NASCAR for the first time after the Brickyard 400 in 2014.

Apart from this, the 48-year-old has started the Watkins Glen International a total of 12 times in the past and would visit the track after a long gap. Hence, driving around the circuit after such a long gap would be a great feeling for Juan Pablo Montoya.

Juan Pablo Montoya recalled his ‘first sponsors’ being Mobil during his NASCAR career

Juan Pablo Montoya has raced in NASCAR from 2007 to 2013 and was first sponsored by Mobil 1. Hence, driving for the same company on its 50th anniversary was a great achievement.

Montoya recalled this fact and further added that representing the brand again would be ‘very special.’ Additionally, the Colombian was excited to witness what the 23Xl team had been building.

The Mobil 1 brand was one of my first sponsors when I started racing, so to represent the brand again as they celebrate this milestone will be so special. I'm also excited to work with 23XI and experience what the team is building.
Juan Pablo Montoya said, as reported by Motorsport.com

NASCAR has started to gain a lot of traction in recent times. Hence, Formula 1 legends partaking in such events could further combine the viewership of the two respective categories. The coming few years will witness great heights achieved by NASCAR as well as Formula 1 due to their combined audiences.
