Adrian Newey‘s shocking late-career switch to Aston Martin from Red Bull caught everyone off-guard. The aero genius was considered for a role in multiple teams and was also rumored to have signed a deal with Ferrari. However, as depicted by the events, Newey is set to take all his knowledge to the doors of the Silverstone factory. Ex-Ferrari engineer Leo Turrini revealed the reasons behind the failed Ferrari move.
Adrian Newey had previously admitted that working for Ferrari was amongst his many ambitions in the sport. The 65-year-old was onetime also rumored to have signed a $105 Million contract with Ferrari for the coming season. Newey’s reasons for ditching Maranello and joining Aston Martin were more serious than people on the grid anticipated.
Leo Turrini revealed that Newey did not join Scuderia because the latter didn’t ‘trust’ the Italian constructor. He noted that this distrust wasn’t directly linked to Ferrari president John Elkann but someone else. Additionally, the 65-year-old just didn’t find Ferrari’s atmosphere as the most suitable to work his best.
Adrian did not come to Maranello because he did not trust the historic Italian team. This is not a distrust towards President John Elkann; he simply did not see that suitable scenario to work at his best.
Leo Turrini said, as reported by funoanalisitecnica.

Ferrari will ‘continue to lose’ in the coming seasons
Ferrari’s current atmosphere is believed to not be favorable for the drivers to score world championships. The team hasn’t won a championship in the last 16 years amidst failing performances. Hence, Turrini noted that the team needed to improve its atmosphere. Or else, Maranello would continue to ‘quietly’ lose the world championships in the coming seasons.

Even Red Bull lived through 7 World Championships where they won nothing. But they did not change a comma. Horner has always remained in his place, ditto Newey. Only in this way can the achievement of the goal set by the racing team be approached. Otherwise, Ferrari will continue ‘quietly’ to lose every season.
Leo Turrini said.
The 2024 season has witnessed the Italian constructors’ desperate attempts to contend for the world championship. The top four teams might have a chance at the championship despite McLaren’s dominant performance. However, Ferrari must put up their A-game to have a realistic shot at the 2024 constructors’ championship.
