Sergio Perez was all in all powerless against a roaring Liam Lawson at the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday.

Visa Cash App RB driver Liam Lawson made an obscene gesture to Red Bull’s Sergio Perez during the Mexican GP. The two drivers fought vehemently on Sunday, with Lawson ultimately getting the better of Perez.
Sergio Perez‘s performance woes followed him to his home race this season. He has now failed to secure a single podium since the Chinese GP. On the other hand, Liam Lawson, who made his first 2024 appearance for RB in Austin, has shown signs of constant improvement.
Lawson flashed Perez his middle finger after successfully making an overtake at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez racing circuit. The duo almost pushed each other off track, which led to frustrations between them. The Mexican and his team were hence furious with the rookie for his outrageous moves.
I shouldn’t have done it and I apologize for that.

The 22-year-old driver apologized to the six-time race winner for making a decision solely out of frustration. He will nevertheless seek to keep up his good form to land a permanent spot on the grid for next year.
Helmut Marko shares details on Sergio Perez’ RB20 damage at the Mexican GP
Red Bull Technical Advisor Helmut Marko has defended Sergio Perez over his tough outing during the race on Sunday. Perez finished P17 at the Mexican GP, failing to improve yet again on a woeful qualifying session at his home turf.

We were of course dealing with that unnecessary collision with [Liam] Lawson, [take note] from our sister team. The damage to the underside of Perez’s car was huge. What we could deduce is that we lost 60 points of downforce. Everything we saw from Perez after that is irrelevant because the car was no longer at the level it needed to be.

Helmut Marko claims that Liam Lawson’s collision with Perez affected the latter’s car greatly. He then cited that the Mexican could no longer perform even if he wished to, as he lost almost 60 points of downforce.
Perez now heads into the last four races without a clear certainty of his future with Red Bull. The only way in which he can ascertain his spot is to inevitably win races and secure podiums for his team from here on.
