Liam Lawson‘s short but impressive stint in 2023 enabled him to be considered for a seat in Formula 1. Daniel Ricciardo‘s failing performances in the 2024 season were the final nail in his coffin. Lawson was immediately entrusted with the vacant seat of Ricciardo for the six remaining races this year. Hence, the Kiwi is extremely excited to be back in the world’s fastest one-seater chassis.

Liam Lawson had started out in Formula 1 during the 2023 Dutch GP after temporarily replacing Daniel Ricciardo. As a result, Lawson has enough experience to drive at tricky circuits, especially one like the US GP. The Kiwi noted that he had yet to race around COTA despite spending extended time on the simulator. The 22-year-old was looking forward to the race.

Although it’s a track I have yet to race at, I’ve spent plenty of time on it in the simulator. It has a great layout, so I’m looking orward to driving it for the first time.

Additionally, Lawson was excited to just be back racing at the pinnacle of motorsport. He noted that he was ‘stoked’ to be back racing and was ready to start working with the Faenza-based team. The 22-year-old wanted to bring in the best results possible for RB amidst their battle against Haas for the sixth spot.

Liam Lawson liked the ‘amazing’ atmosphere at the US GP circuit

The American races are a major spectacle in Formula 1 due to the massive sum spent on them. As a result, Liam Lawson was excited to head into the US GP with RB’s VCARB 01. Lawson claimed that the Austin circuit was one of his favorite races and talked highly of the ‘amazing atmosphere’.

I’m super excited for Austin and getting in the RB VCARB 01 for the first time. I’ve been to COTA a few times as a reserve and it’s probably one of my favourite races to go to, the atmosphere there is amazing.

RB’s tumultuous pace in the 2024 season has caused the team to lose out on major points. The team has great hopes for Liam Lawson to perform strongly after providing him with a seat. Additionally, the Kiwi will have to prove his worth to secure a full-time seat with the Faenza-based constructor for 2025.
