Liam Lawson entered RB (AlphaTauri) mid-way through the 2024 season after replacing Daniel Ricciardo. The 22-year-old quickly got up to speed and started contending for points in the races. Hence, the Kiwi driver remains the front-runner for a move to Red Bull in the coming season, if Sergio Perez were to be ousted. However, Milton Keynes is yet to come to a decision as Lawson is starting to get impatient for the final call.

Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson both will test with the Red Bull chassis as the team draws up a conclusion. According to the rumors, Milton Keynes has already decided to oust Sergio Perez and sign Lawson with the team. The Kiwi reckoned that he was unaware of his contract for the coming season. Regardless, the 22-year-old highlighted that his primary goal was to be in Formula 1.

I don’t know yet. Obviously, my goal is to be in Formula One next year, but I don’t know where that’ll be right now.

Liam Lawson has done a ‘good job’ under challenging circumstances

Liam Lawson did a decent job in his short 2024 stint with the Faenza-based team. Red Bull boss Christian Horner backed up Lawson and his performances this season. The 50-year-old highlighted that the Kiwi did a good job under challenging circumstances.

I think Liam, in challenging circumstances, has done a very good job. If you analyse what he’s done in the time that he’s had and the race pace he’s had, I think he’s done a good job.
