Carlos Sainz seems all set to join Williams in the 2025 season and get up to speed from the get-go. The Spaniard lodged some impressive lap times during the post-season testing with the Grove-based constructor. Hence, amidst the preparations, F1 pundit Martin Brundle put forth his opinions on Sainz’s pair-up with Alex Albon at Williams.
Alex Albon‘s performance in the 2024 season was mediocre at best but was still better than his counterparts. Williams also secured the P9 spot in the pecking order after crashing the chassis multiple times throughout the season. Speaking upon Albon and Carlos Sainz‘s team-up, Martin Brundle noted that both drivers were ‘nicer young men’ which wasn’t common these days. Moreover, the Briton gave a ‘what you see is what you get’ remark over expectations in performance from the Sainz and Albon.
Two nicer young men you couldn’t wish to meet. What you see is definitely what you get.

Apart from their personalities, Brundle reckoned that the two were ‘ferociously competitive’ as drivers. However, the Englishman believed that this would also put the constructor under ‘uncomfortable’ circumstances from time to time. Regardless, the Grove-based constructor seems ready to take up the challenge to perform well under Sainz’s expertise.
But they are also ferociously competitive, which is very healthy if a little uncomfortable from time to time for a team.

James Vowles asserts ‘no politics’ between Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon
Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon are two of the many mature drivers on the Formula 1 grid who don’t lose their heads that often. Due to this, team principal James Vowles was confident that he had undertaken the ‘best drivers’ on the grid to Williams. Vowles reckoned that there was no politics between the two while they were ‘fierce competitors’. The 45-year-old further highlighted that Sainz and Albon were ‘leaders’ despite helping develop the team.

I think I have the best or a combination of either the best drivers on the grid, there’s no politics between them. They’re both incredibly fierce competitors, but they develop a team, they’re leaders at the same time.
James Vowles said, as reported by Planetf1
Williams’ performance in the 2025 season must find improvement in order to hold Sainz’s interest within the team. The Spaniard will bring his experience and racecraft to Grove while Mercedes will wage their options with prodigy Kimi Antonelli. The 30-year-old is rumored to be considered for an upgrade to Brackley if Antonelli fails to perform well.
Due to this, Sainz must focus on his performances at Williams and dream of a move up to Mercedes. The 2025 season will put forth multiple changes and is set to be extremely interesting and exciting for the fans and drivers alike.
