Mercedes Trackside Engineer Andrew Shovlin has revealed a portion of the team’s plan heading into the second half of the season. Shovlin has deemed pace to be the premier priority for the team to build on their good run of form.

The Silver Arrows have been a rejuvenated force with the help of their recent advancements. The Brackley-based team has won three of the last four races, showing brute force against the likes of Red Bull and McLaren.

I think we’ve done a good job of maximising the learning from the opportunity. Simultaneous with that, we’re restructuring the organisation to try and give us the best technical team and group functions to take us into the future. All you can do is try and make the most of the situation that’s in front of you and it’s been a good recovery. But, hopefully, we’ll build on this base rather than take a step back.
Andrew Shovlin told select media including RacingNews365

The Brackley-based team has been on a search for competency in their car ever since the dawn of the new regulations. They are now content with their efforts and will hope to win many more races in the future.

We want the two best drivers, and we need to make the best car, and the team are going to focus on that. If you get those ingredients right, you’ll do fine. But certainly where we are in the competitive order doesn’t affect whether we’re looking for an experienced driver or a young driver.
Andrew Shvolin told media including Motorsportweek

The 50-year-old laid emphasis on the ability of the driver rather than a set basis of preferring experience over everything. This comes at a time when the Silver Arrows are heavily rumored to be singing F2 sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Shovlin also stated that the team’s prime concern will always be perfecting their car, regardless of the conditions and challenges faced. Mercedes has yet to make a concrete announcement of their lineup for 2025 but they are expected to do so in the next couple of months.
