Michael Schumacher continues to make headlines following the latest update on his health improving. The F1 legend is now believed to no longer be bedridden, as he can be wheeled around his estates in a wheelchair. Now, with his health improving, his maiden race-winning car in Formula 1 from all the way back in 1992 has been sold for an astounding figure.

Michael Schumacher debuted in the pinnacle of motorsport back in 1991 at the Belgian GP. The German was one of the greatest talents ever witnessed in the sport back then, as his first race victory came only a year later. Schumacher picked up his maiden race win at the 1992 Belgian GP, while racing for Benetton.

Now, decades later, the Benetton B192 has been auctioned off at the Broad Arrow Auctions. Reportedly, the car was first listed at around $10 million. However, following the auctions, it was finally sold at a whopping total of $5 million. Notably, the iconic B192 challenger picked up a total of 11 podium finishes, one victory, and two fastest laps over the season.

Michael Schumacher was stoked on achieving his first F1 race win in his career. This was the beginning of a new dawn in Formula 1, as the German then went on to achieve record-breaking seven championship victories. Back then, Schumacher commented on the race win and claimed that he couldn’t describe the feeling of finally winning a race. He labeled the feeling as ‘crazy’ as he failed to find words to explain the high.

I really can’t describe it, I mean it is something crazy.

Michael Schumacher ‘would’ve loved’ modern F1 challengers

Michael Schumacher’s teammate back in the days, Martin Brundle, has opened up on how the former would’ve enjoyed the modern era of F1 challengers. The cars of the new regulations have improved safety for the drivers, and run extremely close to the ground. Moreover, driving the modern challengers would be extremely fun as they run at extreme speeds because of the hybrid power unit.

Martin Brundle boldly claimed that historic drivers such as Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher would’ve loved to drive the modern F1 challengers. These drivers had the ability to use all the tools available to them in order to gain extra performance on track. Brundle highlighted how the drivers who could use all the tools available to them often dominated on track, just like Senna and Schumacher back in the day.

But the best drivers… I actually think Ayrton [Senna] and Michael [Schumacher] would love these cars because they had the capacity to use all the tools. And the people who knew best how to use all of the tools got the best out of the cars.

Martin Brundle said, as reported by Crash.net.

Many in the F1 community are still hoping to catch a glimpse of Michael Schumacher out in the world. The F1 legend is on a painstakingly slow path to recovery following his skiing accident. However, the fans and family have not lost hope and are continuing to hope for a speedy recovery for the seven-time champion. Until then, many F1 memorabilia will be auctioned off at astonishing prices as the fans can never forget how special Schumacher is for the pinnacle of motorsport.
