Mick Schumacher, the son of the late F1 legend Michael Schumacher is currently the reserve driver for Mercedes after spending two seasons with the Haas F1 team. The German driver is competing in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine this season. Schumacher is keen on returning to F1 but lacks opportunity to find a spot in a team.
In an interview, Mick Schumacher expressed how frustrating it is to struggle for a place in Formula One. The German driver has failed to find a seat on the grid after his woeful rookie stint. The 25-year-old compared the situation to being given a cake but not being allowed to eat it, instead having to watch others enjoy it.
It's tiring to have to fight for a spot (in F1). It's like being served a cake, but you're not allowed to eat it. And in the meantime, you have to watch everyone around you take a piece.Mick Schumacher in conversation with The Independent
The German stated that he was completely aware of his actions and will not give up until he gets a chance to be in any team’s cockpit. Mick Schumacher certainly hopes that his results with Alpine in WEC could prove his worth to the pinnacle of motorsport once again.
It's tough, but I know what I'm doing it for.Mick Schumacher said
Mick Schumacher claims he hasn’t ‘given up’ on F1 dream
The former Haas driver explained how he cannot give up on the dream he dreamt of when he was five. The 25-year-old reckoned that he’s a complete different person than what he was two years back when the driver was in Haas. Mick Schumacher claimed that he was not willing to give up on his dream just yet.
To be honest, I am a completely different person than I was two years ago. I have been dreaming about Formula 1 since I was five years old. Then I can't just give up that dream, can I?Mick Schumacher stated
The Junior Schumacher reckoned there are times when he’s too close to grab an opportunity but suddenly an obstacle comes in between and disrupts everything. This puts the 25-year-old on the backfoot once again. However, Mick Schumacher insisted that he was going to continue working slowly back to a full-time F1 seat.
Sometimes you think you have a chance, but then something comes up. It's been really grueling, but I'm slowly working my way up.Mick Schumacher added
Despite facing troubles to get a spot in F1, Mick Schumacher remains determined to get back to the grid. Certainly, fans would love to see the German driver fulfill his incomplete dream in the future. However, it is unclear if Schumacher can indeed get a full-time F1 drive in the foreseeable future.
