Former Finnish F1 racing driver Mika Hakkinen has backed McLaren as the fastest team in Formula 1 at the moment. The Papayas have shown tremendous pace and prowess in the championship over the past few races.

McLaren has been one of the most consistent teams this season, securing three wins and 15 podiums so far. The Woking-based outfit is now among the favorites to win the constructors’ championship, having closed the gap to within eight points of the leaders, Red Bull.

Mika Hakkinen has therefore collectively praised the management and their drivers for the exuberant success of the team. Hakkinen then boldly claimed that no other team would be able to match McLaren’s standards this year.

I think McLaren has tools, and they have drivers, they have the designers, they have the management, they have the mega, fantastic partners financing this great, great team. I don't think anybody is going to catch them.

The Woking-based outfit, despite being one of the fastest teams, has failed to wholly take advantage of opportunities this season. Their efforts will now be a big factor as to whether or not they gather some silverware at the end of 2024.

Zak Brown reveals McLaren’s approach ahead of Azerbaijan GP

McLaren CEO Zak Brown has shown confidence in his team ahead of an exciting race at Baku this week. The Papayas scored only two points in the previous year’s edition of the race but will be fancying their chances this year.

Baku is always a bit of a crazy, crazy race. But, we’re going to show up every weekend, trying to go for pole, trying to go for a front row lockout, trying to win. I’m sure it won’t quite work like that for the next eight races, because the competition is tough.
Zak Brown spoke to SkySports F1

Zak Brown has claimed that the team will now function in a more aggressive manner, looking to dominate each stage of a race weekend. Brown has also, however, admitted that his expectations are a bit too optimistic given the tough competition this season.

The Baku city circuit features long straights and tight corners, which has been one of McLaren’s strengths this year. They will therefore try to make up for their lost moments at Monza to win the Azerbaijan GP in thundering fashion on the coming Sunday.
