Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, was pushed out of Formula 1 after two seasons at the Haas F1 team. Now, former F1 champion Mika Hakkinen has given some much-needed advice to the German who wants to make a comeback to the grid.

Schumacher currently competes in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine. He was in the running for the Enstone squad’s F1 seat for 2025, but lost out to Jack Doohan. Nevertheless, Mick Schumacher has mentioned that he still dreams of coming back to the pinnacle of motorsport.

Mika Hakkinen reckoned that the 25-year-old still has a chance to return to the grid in near future. The Finn insisted that the door to F1 remained open for Mick Schumacher. However, this time around Schumacher will need to speak with the ‘right’ people to get a seat in the sport again.

Mick Schumacher keeping all options ‘open’ for 2026

The German driver has mentioned time and time again that he still has what it takes to race in Formula 1. Schumacher declared his target of returning to the grid in 2026. He was asked whether he’d be interested in joining Cadillac next year as GM enters the sport. The 25-year-old asserted that he was keeping all options open.

As I’ve said in interviews before, I feel like I have what it takes for F1. We’ll see what happens; the year is still long, and my goal is to return in 2026… At this point, everything [including Cadillac] is an option.

Certainly, Mick Schumacher believes that he was treated unfairly in Formula 1 during his short stint at Haas. The German driver insists that he has much more to show. However, so far, no team has been willing to bet on Schumacher, and have signed rookie drivers like Kimi Antonelli and Jack Doohan instead.
