“According to the regulations, it should be a penalty,” Helmut Marko furious at Ferrari for pushing the car back

Helmut Marko and Charles Leclerc

Helmut Marko, Red Bull Racing’s CEO, saw Ferrari take the front row after his team was disappointed and finished on the second row. But what poked the Boss wasn’t the finish, it was rather the incident that took place in between the Qualifying session.

Charles Leclerc while going towards his garage missed the weight bridge but was later pushed back by his teammates in the right place.

Charles entered the pitlane for a possible car check and got an alarm for the weight check, but the driver missed the request and kept moving on. Had the pole man entered his garage and the mechanics worked over his car, even changed the tyres, would have resulted in a penalty.
But for his luck the team saw the request and asked the driver to stop and pushed him back later, even Leclerc seemed thankful for the team’s response over the missed request.

“Actually, I didn’t see at all that I was called to the weighbridge. But luckily for me, the team saw the alarm and just told me to stop and they pushed me back.” the polesitter said.

But Marko saw all of this as a possible lack in the regulations and asked to deem the Ferrari driver with a penalty, “If you punish this consistently, as in the junior classes, then there will be a drastic penalty. He drove by. According to the regulations, it should be a penalty. I don’t think pushing him back [as the team did] solves it,” said Helmut on missing the weight bridge.

The rule states-Any driver who fails to stop when asked to do so, and then fails to bring the car back to the FIA garage, or if work is carried out on the car before it is returned to the FIA garage, will be referred to the stewards which keeps the Ferrari Driver out of a penalty talk.

Ferrari has an edge over Red Bull in Monaco

Ferrari and Red Bull fighting for the lead

Red Bull won the Monaco Grand Prix last season and Max Verstappen overtook Lewis Hamilton for the championship lead, with a clear better car then, Red Bull has a slow car when it comes to corners and turns this season.

Ferrari on the other hand has been better all season along with the corner speed and truly marked it in Monaco with an absolute lap time to get on the pole.

This might have a shuffle on the championship table if the Monacan wins the race tomorrow, and this time it would be Max who would have to see a drop to the second place.

Since it is Monaco and things might take a turn if it rains tomorrow making the race way more interesting than it could turn out to be without it.
