Red Bull has been on a roll for the past few years and has dominated the F1 landscape by a mile. Last year, Red Bull came utterly close to a perfect season and many fans had expected that this season would be the one for the Milton Keynes-based squad. However, the legendary racecar designer Adrian Newey thinks otherwise.

Newey has designed multiple cars that have gone down in the history books, his designs have a total of more than 20 world championships. He is regarded as the best F1 car designer and his ability to understand the car’s dynamics is considered magical. However, the Briton is quite skeptical about RB19’s successor as it may not be a huge leap ahead of the RB19 amid fears of reaching the development ceiling.

Last year's car [RB19] was an evolution of '22 in its main points being of course, the normal winter development in terms of aerodynamics. This year's car [RB20] is the third evolution of that original RB18. What we don't know, of course, is the third evolution too conservative, while others have done something different? You just don't know.

This uncertainty of Newey kicks up a few stones about how the RB20 is going to fair out over the next season. He believes that relying on the same concept can come to bite them back later on in the season. However, the car is expected to dominate the field much like the previous season, which will be unveiled next week.

How did Adrian Newey create a monster?

Newey is known for his intricate designs and is the best racecar designer the sport has ever seen. He has been in a partnership with Red Bull since 2006 and has been a key to their success in winning the 2010-13 and 2021-23 seasons.

He always carries his notebook with him and is seen sketching different parts of cars when inspecting rival cars. Newey is understood to have an ability that helps him to understand how air over a car would flow and how the aerodynamics would work while racing, this allows him to visualise easily how the car would fare out.

The RB19 was the most dominant car ever produced in F1, winning 21 out of the 22 Grand Prix. It can be understood that Newey’s magic was present in this design and rivals fear this Red Bull’s asset more than anything else.
