Alex Albon is becoming one of the most wanted drivers on the grid, with big players like Red Bull seeing him as their potential future driver. His current form with Williams has turned many heads, as the Thai driver is on P13 in the WDC standings. In an interview with The Race, Albon revealed his situation with Williams and potential moves to other teams.

Albon said that he has a long-term contract with Williams, so he will stay with the team as long as he is observing progress. However, he said that a balance would have to be maintained between their short-term and long-term goals, and if they fail to achieve that, he would not hesitate to look elsewhere for opportunities.

“It is a longer-term contract. So as long as the progress is there, then this is going to be a long-term thing. But at the same time, you have to also realise, I do feel like I’m driving at my best, I do think I have more to give. I still want to score podiums, I still want to win races,” Albon told The Race.

“My focus is on making sure Williams is that team. But beyond that, if for whatever reason it does become difficult, you do naturally have to look elsewhere,” he added.

Alex Albon’s future was left uncertain after he got axed by Red Bull in 2021. He was then picked by Williams in 2022 and has been on an upward trajectory ever since. Recently, leading F1 correspondent Lawrence Barretto claimed that Albon will be hot property in 2025, with half of the grid looking to use his skills.

Barretto said that the 2025 driver market is wide open, with almost every team having at least one spot open. He said that while Albon doesn’t have a win or a championship, he is still one of the most promising talents and will be a key player in 2025 if he maintains this course of action.

“There is so much interest from other teams… It’s believed there have been conversations (either formal or informal) with at least half the grid, some of which, sources tell me, are top teams… He has proved unequivocally that he is one of the most exciting talents on the grid right now,” Barretto wrote in his piece for the F1 website.
