Alex Albon and Williams had an impressive 2023 F1 season. The Grove-based made some decent progress under the leadership of new Team Principal James Vowles. Albon managed to score some crucial points for the British team on a few occasions this year. Now, the Thai driver has named his biggest lost opportunity this season.
The 27-year-old mentioned that he enjoyed several races this year. Moreover, Alex Albon reckoned that the Australian GP was perhaps the only race where the Thai driver lost out on points. The Williams driver had one of the worst crashes of 2023 during the race that saw him lose out on a potential points finish.
I have to say that in reflection, I've had a lot of fun moments this year. I think it also just speaks to the fact that Melbourne was the only race where I felt like I missed an opportunity to score points.Alex Albon said as reported by RacingNews365
Albon claimed that despite the setback at the Australian GP, he and the team managed to get the most out of the car at every race. As such, Williams bagged as many points as it could’ve got this year. The Thai driver pointed out that this was potentially the biggest difference between the Grove-based team and its rivals.
But every other race we've done this year, when there's been a chance we've done it. I think that's been the main difference against our rivals.
Alex Albon proud of Williams’ 2023 campaign
Williams impressed the entire paddock with a decent 2023 season. The Grove-based team managed to finish seventh in the constructors’ standings this year just ahead of AlphaTauri. Subsequently, Alex Albon mentioned that he was proud of the team’s efforts this year despite facing challenging situations on the track.

The Thai driver mentioned that he would have liked to fight in the midfield in more races this year. Moreover, the 27-year-old recognized that Williams became infamous for holding a train of cars behind during races. Nevertheless, Alex Albon mentioned that 2023 was a big improvement for the Grove-based team.
I wish we had more of them but unfortunately, a lot of them are holding up a bunch of cars behind us, which is what we've become renowned for.
Certainly, Williams seems to be on the right track for next season. James Vowles has provided the team with some much-needed direction and the results have improved since. However, there is a long way to go before the Grove-based team can break into the F1 midfield and battle against the likes of Aston Martin and Alpine.
