Alex Palou, the IndyCar racing driver, has recently been the talk of the town regarding the pinnacle of motor racing. He is currently in the McLaren stable of drivers, but despite this fact, it seems Palou has been in regular touch with some of the F1 teams regarding a seat for the 2024 season of the sport.

It has also come to light that to keep Alex Palou within the McLaren setup, he was given an advance on his salary by Zak Brown and Co. The McLaren CEO is incredibly disappointed with the recent turn of events. He even wrote a letter to the Arrow McLaren Racing employees stating that Palou had given the papaya team assurances that he would be with them in 2024.

While Zak Brown has currently found himself in an extremely difficult situation, it is a common belief that the 26-year-old could have held talks with the lights of Williams and the Red Bull-sister team, AlphaTauri. The two outfits have seats available for next year, and Palou could be seen dawning the racing gear of these two teams.

However, from the perspective of McLaren and Brown, the decision, first reported by AP News, is extremely disappointing as they had plans for him in IndyCar with them with the option of switching to F1 in the future years. The ongoing shenanigans have put Brown in the same boat as Alpine during last year’s summer break.

This is incredibly disappointing considering the commitment he has made to us both directly and publicly and our significant investment in him based on that commitment,” the McLaren Racing CEO stated in a letter released.

While Alex Palou has thrown a curve ball toward Zak Brown with his recent antics, the fact can’t be ignored that the former is an exceptionally talented racing driver. He has now and then proved his worth in the IndyCar series and has even done well in F1 machinery during his past test with McLaren.

Alex Palou is one of the emerging stars that has been knocking on the doors of the pinnacle of motor racing for quite some time, and the reason behind Palou’s decision to hold talks with a few F1 teams could be his age. He is currently 26 years old and might feel it would be best for him to get a F1 racing seat during his prime years.

He understands how fierce the completion is when it comes to F1, and he might not be willing to let go of any opportunity that comes his way. However, knowing Zak Brown, he will not let things slide easily if Palou manages to secure a racing seat in F1 for the 2024 season of the sport.
