The Practice sessions at the Mexican Grand Prix gave several rookies their first chance at driving the Formula 1 car in an official session. Red Bull’s newest talent Isack Hadjar was one of them. The 19-year-old driver is currently racing in the 2023 Formula 2 Championship for Hitech Pulse–Eight. Hadjar is of French-Algerian descent and he finished the session in his AlphaTauri as the second-fastest rookie behind Haas’s Oliver Bearman in P17.

Hadjar commented on his first stint in a Formula 1 car and claimed the Saturday at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez Circuit to be the ‘best day of his life’. Franz Tost, the Boss at AlphaTauri had an interesting remark about the teenager’s comment. Tost hoped that the Saturday would mark the beginning of a flourishing F1 career and that much better days lie ahead of the driver. The Team Principal demanded that the youngster keep his expectations higher, as reported by Planet F1

I don’t think that this was the best day of his life, I hope that he wins races and championships, this shouldn’t be the best day of his life.

Tost later complimented the young driver’s first outing as he continued to comment on Hadjar’s first F1 outing.

He did a good job, I must say, We were all impressed by him. His technical feedback was also quite good because if you compare it to the data, it’s a very high correlation. And we are impressed and I think that he will be soon in Formula 1.

Franz Tost reveals the fastest driver he has seen in all his years at Red Bull

Franz Tost has been the Team Principal at Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri, more commonly known through its former name Torro Rosso, for several years. The team, since its inception, has honed young talents including the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, and Max Verstappen to eventually graduate into Red Bull’s main team. The Experienced Tost is slated to retire from the sport at the end of 2023 and has revealed the fastest driver he has seen during his time in Formula 1.

Ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, Franz Tost was asked which one of the many drivers he managed at Torro Rosso was the fastest. Even after being at the helm of a Formula 1 team, Tost couldn’t pick a singular rider as the fastest. The AlphaTauri boss gave two names, which seemed to be the obvious answer–Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel.

There weren’t many doubts as to why Tost selected the two drivers as Vettel and Verstappen have collectively won Red Bull a total of 7 World Championships (4 for Sebastian Vettel and 3for Max Verstappen). The Paddock will surely miss Tost beyond 2023 as one of the drivers he once coached, looks set to dominate yet another year.
