AlphaTauri had a poor start to the 2023 F1 season. The Faenza-based team is reckoned to have the slowest car on the grid this season. This has proved a challenge for its drivers. As such, Red Bull has already made it clear that its sister team must follow the lead of Milton Keynes to improve its prospects in the future. Now, AlphaTauri CEO Peter Bayer has revealed the team’s plans for 2024.
Bayer mentioned that the Faenza-based team will get all non-listed parts from Red Bull next season, similar to Haas’ approach with Ferrari. This would allow AlphaTauri to develop a car that could more closely resemble the RB-19 philosophy. Subsequently, this would enable the Italian team to make its way up the pecking order.
Peter Bayer told Skysports Germany, “In the future, we will get everything that is permitted by the regulations from Red Bull Racing, and [we] will of course also come closer to Red Bull in terms of car design.” Such a design switch would result in abandoning the team’s current concept, which has failed to deliver expected results since the start of F1’s ground-effect era.

AlphaTauri to form closer ties with Red Bull Racing
The Red Bull sister team currently operates from the Italian town of Faenza. However, Red Bull consultant Dr. Helmut Marko clarified that AlphaTauri’s certain departments might be moving to the UK soon. This would bring the Italian team closer to the Milton Keynes base of its sister squad. As such, it would provide the perfect platform for Red Bull’s other team to make a stronger car in 2024.
AlphaTauri will be renamed before the start of the 2024 season. There have been rumors of Hugo Boss being interested in securing the title sponsorship of the team amongst other parties. Current title sponsor Orlen is also known to be willing to continue its partnership with the Red Bull sister team. However, the Italian team has not disclosed any information about the same.
Thus, AlphaTauri will adopt a similar design philosophy to the Red Bull RB-19 next season. The Faenza-based team has had a disappointing year so far. As such, Milton Keynes hopes to see better performance from its sister team with a closer partnership in 2024. Although, it remains to be seen if the Italian team can turn things around next season.
