During the recent Belgian Grand Prix weekend, it was revealed that Otmar Szafnauer and the esteemed Sporting Director, Alan Permane, would be parting ways with the Enstone squad. This departure comes when Alpine grapples with a tumultuous season, relegating to sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship. Their disappointing performance has yielded a mere 57 points over the initial 12 championship rounds.
Bruno Famin, the vice principal for Alpine, mentioned that the ongoing situation marked the progression into the second stage of Alpine. He added that it was not regressing; rather, it was making forward strides. He acknowledged that the current circumstances encompassed significant changes.
And also emphasized that they presented an opportunity to establish a fresh basis or strengthen the existing one, enabling them to advance more swiftly. He highlighted that their primary goal, as he had stated before, was achieving victory. He expressed their ambition to secure wins in races and championships at the earliest possible juncture.
“Of course, it’s a lot of change. But it’s an opportunity also, to have a new foundation, or to consolidate the foundation and to go further and faster. The key objective is the one I mentioned recently: we need to win, we aim for winning races and championships as soon as possible,” Bruno Famin said, as reported by Racingnews360.

Alpine embarked on a streak of point-scoring accomplishments with both cars across three consecutive races, commencing in Miami and culminating in a notable podium achievement by Esteban Ocon in Monaco. However, their momentum recently waned regarding sheer performance, failing to secure points with either car during the previous weekend at Silverstone.
Famin expressed the need for continuous enhancement of their cars, encompassing the complete package, both within races and over successive years. He acknowledged the challenges and the impact of regulatory alterations on team standings. He viewed improved rankings as a viable objective, albeit not achieved through a single large advancement, but rather through consistent and ongoing progress leading up to that milestone.
“We need to constantly improve our cars, the full package, from race to race, from year to year. We know that it’s not easy. We know that the change of regulation is generally a good milestone for changing the ranking and I think it’s quite a reasonable target,” Famin further continued.
Bruno Famin has been elevated to the position of Vice President at Alpine Motorsports. In this capacity, the Frenchman will oversee the company’s motorsport ventures, including the Formula 1 Team. Famin, in turn, directly reports to the CEO of the group, Laurent Rossi, who was previously Szafnauer’s superior.
