Alpine is having a very difficult 2023 season. From their on-track performance to their management, everything has taken a big hit. The team has seen big changes in their management in recent months as they now have a new CEO and technical head while they are still searching for a team principal and sporting director. As Esteban Ocon‘s team reconstructs itself, they have recently announced a new multi-year deal with Qatar Airways, which will be in effect from the Qatar GP this year.
Qatar Airways had already gotten involved in Formula One earlier this year as they became their global partner and official airline for the next five years. They have already sponsored the Hungarian GP and will do the same for the Qatar GP in October. Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker also expressed his delight in expanding and promoting his business in F1.
“We are very proud to enter into this multi-year partnership with Alpine to help us promote Qatar Airways and the Qatar GP… We are both committed to excellence and technological advances without forgetting sustainability in each industry,” said Al Baker, as per SoyMotor.
As Pierre Gasly‘s team goes through a tough phase, this injection of money from the Middle East might be exactly what they need to return to the competition. They currently stand in sixth place in the constructors’ standings, 144 points behind fourth place Aston Martin, where they finished last year.

Renault CEO Luca de Meo opens up about brutal Alpine sackings
Alpine’s internal struggles made their way into the headlines after Renault CEO Luca de Meo mercilessly fired Alpine’s upper management before the F1 summer break. As the team rebuilds itself from the bottom up, de Meo recently talked about what drove him to take such drastic measures.
Talking about Otmar Szafnauer, Laurent Rossi, and Alan Permane, de Meo claimed that they made certain promises to him that they did not keep. He clarified that they set certain targets themselves, and then the team struggled after they failed to achieve them in the planned timeline.
“They promised me things that were not kept. It seemed like a brutal action, and it was, but we are behind what we set ourselves as goals… To do something like Red Bull or like Mercedes did for a long cycle, you have to keep working, you have to be humble, you have to change things,” said de Meo.
