Andretti Global’s application to join Formula One was turned down at the end of January. Formula One claims that the reason it rejected the application was because it didn’t think Andretti would be a competitive team and that the series didn’t benefit from having the Andretti name. But Andretti recently posted a picture of the US headquarters of the Andretti Cadillac team, showing all the dedication towards F1.
Designed by British company Ridge, which has worked on several UK F1 facilities, including the new Aston Martin campus at Silverstone, the 90-acre US site is expected to be completed in 2025 and serves as a testament to the seriousness of the F1 project.
With half of its space devoted to manufacturing and design for the F1 project along with collaboration with the UK facility, Andretti Global’s Fishers facility will house its operations for IndyCar, Indy NXT, and IMSA.
After using a makeshift office, the team relocated to Silverstone, where the aerodynamics department will be located. The Andretti Experience building, which will have a museum and restaurant, is planned to occupy 400,000 square feet in Phase 1 of the Fishers project, with room for future expansion.

Andretti is making significant progress with their car development even though the F1 rejected their application at the beginning of January. Andretti Global has significantly upgraded Toyota‘s wind tunnel facility in an attempt to secure a Formula 1 grid spot. Since 2010, Toyota has allowed various teams to use its Cologne facility to enhance the aerodynamics of their vehicles.

In 2009, Toyota announced its retirement from Formula One racing due to the global credit crisis and an expensive eight-season attempt to succeed in the sport. To recover losses, the company hired a facility to fix a highly-expenditures, state-of-the-art wind tunnel.
A major force in the automotive industry, McLaren spent 12 years developing cars before opening its own wind tunnel in the middle of the year. Two steel belt rolling road tunnels—one for full-size cars and the other for 60–60% model testing—are housed in the building. Andretti took over after McLaren left, which resulted in the modernization of the facility and its exclusive use for their racing team.
