“Arigato Suzuka,” Sebastian Vettel comments on his radio message during the qualifying session of Japanese GP
Sebastian Vettel
Sebastian Vettel has had a pretty torrid time behind the wheel of his AMR22 this year, however, the Japanese GP has been good to him so far and he has deemed the track as one of the best in F1.
Sebastian Vettel, during the qualifying session, was able to make it into Q3 on the back of his solid performance, however, it was not all easy going for the German driver.
During Q2, Vettel was just able to squeeze into Q3, and he did it by a margin of three-thousandths of a second, moreover, during the final dash of qualifying, he was able to land his car in a respectable P9.
Vettel is extremely happy with his performance and on the radio said, “OK boys, good session. I really enjoyed it. This track is just so much better than all the other ones.”
He further added, “Arigato Suzuka. Thank you. I will miss this place.”

Sebastian Vettel loves the Suzuka International Racing Course
Sebastian Vettel is in awe of the super-fast Suzuka International Racing Course, and during his post-qualifying interview, he indicated that he would love to race again at the circuit if an opportunity will open in the future.
He has been getting adored by fans since landing in Japan and while further dwelling on his session, added, “I enjoyed the whole qualifying session, we were very tight to get to Q2, and then even tighter for Q3. It was a great day for us, a wonderful session.”
“I receive so much support here. It’s great, there’s so much energy, and people seem very happy for us to be back. There were a lot of German flags around and it just felt like it was good to say thank you.”
Vettel was stressed on whether his Arigato comment was preplanned, and as a response to it, he said, “No, it was spontaneous.”
“This place has given me so much enjoyment and the feeling of being so alive in the car, it felt the right thing to say, to say thank you.”
Sebastian Vettel will start the Japanese GP 10 places ahead of his teammate Lance Stroll, who struggled to get to grips with the circuit, and Vettel has indicated that he was not expecting to end up in the top 10 for the race.
“It’s not our track on paper, we have quite a big wing on and our car is too draggy, I don’t know, maybe it’s a bit of Suzuka power!“
“The Q2 lap was under pressure because I put myself under pressure to get through to Q3 with a perfect lap, and we did it, just. Then you get the confirmation that you made it, and so on. I said already crossing the line, it was a really good lap and I was very happy.”
“In Q3 I was able to go even faster, but we’re not really racing anyone then because you know everyone else is supposed to be faster than you.”
“We did beat Lando [Norris], who was a bit unfortunate, but overall a very good session.”
Sebastian Vettel is pleased with his outing during the quali session and believes that he did everything that he could have done with the machinery that he had underneath him.
The upcoming Japanese GP has got a lot of uncertainty surrounding it because of the weather conditions for the race, and considering the 35-year-old will start from P9, how much further would he be able to people himself during the race?
