Lawrence Stroll took over the bankrupt Force India F1 team in 2018. Subsequently, the Silverstone-based team underwent major overhauls and is now known as the Aston Martin F1 team. However, Stroll’s squad has failed to match the dominant Red Bulls this season. The Canadian billionaire reckoned that he, too, aspires to achieve such success.

Stroll admitted being envious of the Milton Keynes-based team. However, the 64-year-old acknowledged that Red Bull has put immense effort over the years, with every member doing their job well. The Aston Martin boss believed that the Austrian team deserved their results. He told Sky Sports, “I am very jealous of that. Obviously they have done their job well and they enjoy what they are doing, so I take my hat off for that.”

The Canadian billionaire highlighted that with the cost cap in place, there is a much more even playing field in F1. As such, Lawrence Stroll reckoned that the Silverstone-based team must step up their performance in the coming years and match Red Bull. Stroll said, “The field has become more equal due to the budget ceiling, that was not the case in recent years. I think we should all do our job better, then we can catch up with them.”

Lawrence Stroll is confident about Aston Martin’s 2024 car with a new factory in operation

The Aston Martin Chairman has spent millions since acquiring the team in 2018. The Canadian billionaire understood the importance of key personnel and infrastructure. Subsequently, Stroll poached some big figures from rivals, including Red Bull and Mercedes. Moreover, the Silverstone-based team shifted to a brand new factory earlier this year, which is beside its old campus.

Lawrence Stroll was adamant that the 2024 car would be a big improvement, considering that it was built in the new factory. The 64-year-old highlighted the facility has all the new-age innovations that are needed to have a top team in F1. The Canadian stated, “Last year’s car was built in a 33-year-old factory. The car for next year comes from our new campus. It is very different there than we are used to. It brings a state-of-the-art factory to a state-of-the-art company.”

Aston Martin has improved massively at the start of the 2023 season. However, the British team has fallen behind rivals such as McLaren and Mercedes. As such, Lawrence Stroll’s squad must understand its weaknesses from this year and work towards finding solutions as they head towards 2024. It remains to be seen if Aston Martin can fulfill Stroll’s ambitions.
