“Beautiful day!” Charles Leclerc sarcastically sums up his day out at the Belgian GP

Charles Leclerc finished his very usual Sunday after a loss in the Belgian GP, finishing P6. Leclerc had a very good start when he followed his rival tow to tow to P9 in the first few laps. But things started getting unlucky when he started to lose out on Max Verstappen ultimately losing the race but not even getting himself on the podium.

Charles Leclerc quickly covered a bunch of cars in a few laps but then had a tyre tear that forced him to pit for another set of Medium tyres. This untimely pit caused the Ferrari driver very crucially gained position, taking him to P17 again. He then started pushing his F1-75 again to gain a few positions getting to a stable P5 behind Mercedes’ George Russell.

Charles in the end laps also went for the extra point given away for the fastest lap but pitting again, the third time, risking his fifth position to Fernando Alonso. Though Charles managed to take it back from Alonso, he was later given a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane. As per the regulations the speed shouldn’t surpass 80 km per hour, Charles did 81 km per hour in the pit lane.

As a sum up of his day, Charles said, “P9 in Lap 1 then tear off in the brakes that cause front right brake overheating, have to stop to take the tear-off off the brakes, come back to P5, took a 5 seconds penalty for being too quick in pit lane because of a burnt sensor caused by the first issue. Beautiful day!”.

Max Verstappen was unbelievable in Spa after the half-Belgian found his way to the top in just 13 laps. He then took off the lead again on lap 19 after pitting for the first time. Max drove unrealistically fast in his RB-18. He ultimately won the race with a margin of 18 seconds to his teammate Sergio Perez.

Charles Leclerc couldn’t even manage a podium finish, which surely defines his whole season after having the fastest car on a few of the occasions. Carlos Sainz manage a P3 starting from the Pole position but had to lose out his position to the two fast RB-18s.

The championship fight after the Belgian Grand Prix has completely faded away with Max Verstappen having a lead in the championship with a grand 96 points in his hand. Red Bull on the other hand has a lead of 118 points.
