Bizarre scenes at F1 Academy race at Saudi Arabia as race winner takes the chequered flag twice
The F1 Academy season opener was swept by Doriane Pin.

F1 Academy, the Formula One-supported all-female race, marked its first race of the 2024 season in Saudi Arabia. It was the first of many races across the continents where the series will travel alongside F1 as a Support Race. Drivers nominated by all ten F1 teams were in the grid and it was a Mercdes Acadamy driver that came on top.
Doriane Pin won the first race of the 2024 Formula One Academy, which lasted thirty minutes. She also won the 2nd race of the F1 academy in the two-race weekend finishing the perfect start to the season. Pin showed some good pace during the entire race. But the finish to the race didn’t go as she expected as she forgot it was the last lap of the race and made a mistake.
Doriane Pin took the chequered flag twice. After completing the race, she didn’t see the chequered flag. So on the cool-down lap, she was driving with a race pace. When the team told her about the incident, she complained on the Radio that the team should let her know that the race was finished. The Stewrats Red Flag the race over the incident.

The red flags are shown after she crosses the line again. The stewards may well take a look at that and could issue a penalty.
The incident though hilarious, is a serious mistake that could’ve had significant reprecautions. The FIA had previously given drivers massive penalties and even a 10-spot grid penalty in the past. Pin was credited the win and no penalty decision is yet to be made.
Abbi Pulling prevails in the F1 Academy race for second place at the Saudi GP
Abbi Pulling qualified 2nd position for the Saudi Arabia Grand both at Qualifying 1 and 2. With Doriane Pin securing wins at all races. It was interesting to see that Alpine driver driving for Rodin Motorsport. Pulling was seen 3 tenths seconds behind Pin in both qualifying. Pulling was seen grateful for driving for Rodin Motorsport in F1 Academy.
Pulling was observed driving a very dominant car during the race. Throughout the entire race, Pulling was fighting with Weug, and Marti was constantly challenging her. However, Pulling lacked Pin’s race pace. By the end of the race, Weug had secured a third-place finish. At the finish of the race, Marti was in fourth place.
However, the Alpine driver who is gaining points will be motivated to challenge Pin for the title. However, it will be interesting to watch which racing team comes out on top. Given that Spain would host the following race.
