Charles Leclerc given hope in title race: “Still plenty of time to recover”

Charles Leclerc after Canada is in the third slot with 126 points to his name in the Driver’s Championship and the former Formula One driver Jean Alesi believes that Leclerc is right in not losing hope as the season is long and things can change at any moment.

Jean Alesi believes that the 2022 season is only 9 rounds down and there are still plenty more races to go where Leclerc can close the gap to Max Verstappen.

Ferrari has had quite a few reliability issues this season and this is one of the main reasons behind Leclerc tumbling down in the Drivers Championship. However, Alesi has urged the Monegasque driver to keep doing the right things and the results will follow.

While talking about Leclerc Alesi said, “Leclerc is right to show optimism. Such a tight championship puts pressure on the gearboxes, engines, hydraulics, everything. Technical problems will follow for every team.’

Jean Alesi, being a former F1 driver knows about the unpredictability of the sport and feels a lot of drama is still to happen in the season so Leclerc and Co. should not lose faith and keep grinding.

The Maranello-based team has a very quick car this season and Charles Leclerc has been terrific when it comes to putting his F1-75 in pole position during Qualifying, the Achilles heel at Ferrari has been the reliability of the car.

It has hampered the team in a significant way and given the team’s situation in both the Championships, the Italian team cannot afford any more DNFs.

Canada was a strong weekend for Ferrari and Alesi believes, “We are not even halfway through the championship yet. There is still plenty of time to recover, starting with the next round at Silverstone, a circuit that rejoices champions.”

Alesi has urged the Ferrari team to start getting back on the pedal as the British Grand Prix is just a few days away and the Frenchman feels that Silverstone would be a good starting point for Charles Leclerc to get back on winning ways and start churning up big performances for the team.
