The Las Vegas GP is undoubtedly the most-awaited Grand Prix weekend of the 2023 calendar. As the eventual Grand Prix, which will include the F1 monsters tearing the Sin City’s streets up, approaches, several members of the paddock continue to voice their concern over the high ticket pricing. It was revealed that the price for the general admission tickets around the MSG Sphere were on sale for $966 (£844), these tickets did not even include a direct view of the circuit.
Charles Leclerc was recently asked about the ticket pricing and whether it is the reason behind several fans being alienated from the Grand Prix.
I hope that Formula 1 is working around that because for sure there’s been many events now that are just incredibly expensive. Also like real fans that really love the sport cannot even afford to get to the races and actually watch the races, so this is definitely an issue that has to be tackled.Charles Leclerc reportedly said.
AlphaTauri’s Daniel Ricciardo also commented on the ticket pricing and said that the sport needs to find a ‘balance’ between its commercial motivations and the emotional appeal for the fans. The Australian driver, fresh off of his comeback in F1, talked about it [as reported by racefans.net].
I would love that everyone can have the option to attend. Obviously, I’m not the business behind the sport. I don’t want to say it’s my ignorance, but I would still love that the general admission [ticket] is affordable for anyone, whatever job they have.
Several fans, who will be watching the inaugural race from the comfort of their home, look forward to the eventual Grand Prix. However, with the cancellation of the FP1 session due to a loose drain cover, even these fans have started doubting the spectacle that was promised. It will be interesting to see how the Grand Prix turns out over the course of the weekend.
Former American racer puts his money on more A-listers showing up for the Las Vegas GP than usual fans
The inaugural race on the iconic ‘Vegas Strip’ has swiftly become the standout event on the 2023 Formula 1 calendar. The imminent Grand Prix Weekend in Las Vegas marks the penultimate round of the 2023 season. With various American celebrities and notable personalities expected to grace the inaugural Grand Prix, the true scale of international star appearances will only be fully realized once the Las Vegas GP weekend kicks off.
Renowned retired American racer Willy T Ribbs, known for his stints in the Trans-Am series, Indycar, and NASCAR Cup series, shared his predictions for the most significant celebrity presence during the race weekend. Ribbs anticipates the celebrity turnout to surpass genuine fans, going as far as saying that even the presence of King Charles at the event wouldn’t surprise him.
Concluding his thoughts on the upcoming race, Willy T Ribbs boldly declared the Las Vegas GP as the ‘most glamorous’ race in the history of motorsport, describing it as the “biggest race in racing history” without exaggeration.
