The current leader of the F1 driver championship, Charles Leclerc, has recently been reported to have been robbed. The driver from Monaco was with his athletic trainer, Andrea Ferrari when the incident took place in an unexpected fashion.

The thief took away Charles’ Richard Mille RM67 ‘Leclerc,’ which is estimated to be worth around 300 thousand euros and holds the potential to be sold for over a million. The incident took place in Viareggio, which is a commune in northern Tuscany, Italy, on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

After the incident, Leclerc filed a complaint with the local police. The driver is reported to be fine and unharmed during the robbery. Investigation for the identification of the robber is underway as the security cameras are being searched.

How was Charles Leclerc robbed?

The Ferrari driver was on an outing around 10 PM with his athletic trainer in Italy. Around that time, the group of thieves asked the Monegasque driver for a souvenir photograph. The driver was present in the car when the request was made.

As the driver stepped out of his car to fulfill the request of what he thought were his fans, one of the people present in the group took away the Richard Mille from Leclerc’s hand and then got away.

The watch brand from Switzerland has been associated with Ferrari for over a year now, while they have been with Charles Leclerc since his earlier driving days.

An incident of this sort isn’t the first in F1. The other most recent one happened with the McLaren driver, Lando Norris, who was robbed of his 40K Pounds watch after he was exiting a match of the England National Football team.
