Charles Leclerc is the star driver of Scuderia Ferrari. The Monegasque received the longest contract in the Italian team’s history in 2019 which extended till the end of 2024. Rumors had surfaced over the 26-year-old’s future at Maranello in the latter half of last season. As the Scuderia struggled to fight for the title. However, Leclerc has now finally signed a massive contract extension with Ferrari.

Scuderia Ferrari announced that Charles Leclerc would continue with the Prancing Horse beyond 2024 in a multi-year deal. Although the exact tenure of this extension has not been revealed, Leclerc stated that he would be donning the Ferrari red for several more seasons to come. The Monegasque driver earned around $24 million in salary with his current contract. This number is bound to grow with this new deal.

Charles Leclerc expressed his excitement after signing the contract extension. The 26-year-old acknowledged that Ferrari has gone through a rollercoaster of emotions and results in the past five years. However, Leclerc was adamant that the best was yet to come. As the Monegasque aims to fulfill his dream of bringing glory back to Maranello.

Fred Vasseur claims Charles Leclerc could make the difference for Ferrari

Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur was thrilled to re-sign the 26-year-old. The Frenchman mentioned that the Scuderia aims to give Leclerc a car capable of fighting for the F1 world championship in the future. Moreover, Vasseur claimed that Charles Leclerc’s sheer determination and commitment might be the deciding factor that could lead Ferrari to its first F1 world title since 2008.

Charles Leclerc has been part of Ferrari since 2016. The 26-year-old has created a strong bond within the team which has allowed him to have faith in the squad despite the rough times. Nevertheless, Leclerc seems to be confident in the Scuderia for the long-term as the Italian team tries to get back to its glory days.

However, this will be a mammoth task for Leclerc and Ferrari. The Scuderia fell behind Red Bull massively last season. Although Fred Vasseur has made some major changes behind the scenes at Maranello which could yield results in the future. As such, fans would be looking forward to seeing Charles Leclerc potentially challenge for the title soon.
