Red Bull Racing is constructing a new state-of-the-art facility for the development of the challengers for the team. However, Team Principal Christian Horner has revealed some facts about the new facility that might be imperative for the team’s development in the coming years.
After serving a 12-month penalty on wind tunnel usage, due to the infamous cost-cap breach in 2021, Red Bull once again prepares to use the tunnel to its maximum benefit. Horner commented on the same and displayed some resentment due to the weird regulations. The Briton added that the Austrian team would receive eight percent less time as compared to second-placed Ferrari.
Our (wind tunnel) allowance increased a bit in October as we’d served the penalty, It allowed seven percent more time, but that’s eight percent less than any other competitor. That’s just the way these regulations are.Horner said, as reported by speedcafe.com.

In addition to this, Horner affirmed that the construction for the new wind tunnel would start by 2024 and would not be finished anytime soon. When further questioned about the details, the Red Bull boss claimed that the facility would be up and running for the 2027 car as the team needs to nominate the tunnel for a year, and not mid-season.
With wind tunnels being a thing of the future, by all accounts, we’ve had to go with the times and invest in a new wind tunnel on which construction will start during 2024. Probably for the ’27. You don’t want to introduce it in-season, you have to nominate a tunnel for the year, so it’ll probably be to do the ’27 car in.
Christian Hornern glad to see Red Bull’s increased commitment to F1
The Briton Boss highlighted that the team has been debating over the status quo for the past 19 years. Subsequently, Christian Horner also added that the commitment to build the facility in the United Kingdom is something extraordinary for Milton Keynes. Additionally, the commitment was massive not only for the team but also for Red Bull GmbH as a whole.

The 51-year-old also delved into the details of the sales for the Red Bull energy drink giant’s sale during the season. An astonishing 320 million can sales in a year solely due to the F1 stint from Red Bull indicated a remarkable year for the energy drink giant.
Finally, the RB19 for this year was a rocket ship of a car despite the wind tunnel limitations for the team. Hence, by 2027 the team might hit its limit in car development with a new inclusion of the state-of-the-art wind tunnel facility. Moreover, the regulations change in 2026 would harbor some new milestones for Milton Keynes with the start of Red Bull-Ford Powertrains.
