Christian Horner feels that Aston Martin's AMR 23 is very similar to Red Bull's last year's Championship winning car.

Christian Horner, the Red Bull Team Principal,, talked about the new AMR22. The Brit has indicated that this year’s Aston Martin is very similar to Red Bull’s 2022 livery. This has come in light of the Silverstone-based team’s impressive showing at the Bahrain GP. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll managed to land their cars in P3 and P6 at the end of the race.

Christian Horner has always been a feisty character in the F1 paddock and, with his recent comments, has again made the headlines. Moreover, has indirectly taken a dig at Aston Martin by insinuating the arrival of former Red Bull’s Aerodynamics Chief, Dan Fallows, at the team. Fallows left Red Bull ahead of this year’s F1 campaign.

Despite Red Bull securing a 1-2 finish in Bahrain, the Red Bull Team Principal was not very pleased. While stressing the Aston Martin team, he added, “I think it demonstrates to all the teams that it’s possible, so they’ve obviously done a good job over the winter. They say imitation is the biggest form of flattery! It’s good to see the old car going so well”

The 49-year-old has not held back in any and has made it clear, that in his opinion, the AMR 23 is very similar to the RB18. Aston Martin has looked strong since the start of pre-season testing, and it seems, Horner is slightly concerned looking at the huge step up made by the green-colored team.

Helmut Marko agrees with Christian Horner’s comments

While Horner has made his remarks about the AMR23, Helmut Marko, the Red Bull team adviser, also feels that Aston Martin’s car is similar to the Milton-Keynes-based team’s car. While talking about it, he said, “If you compare the cars, the Aston Martin is most similar to our Red Bull. There’s a reason for that. Not only did Fallows change but also some other employees and they obviously have a good memory.”

Looking at the comments of both the senior men at Red Bull, it is pretty evident that the team has concerns and feels that Fernando Alonso and Co. could pose a serious F1 Championship challenge. Moreover, taking into account how aggressive Alonso is while racing, their worries are totally understandable.

Considering everything that has happened so far in the 2023 F1 season, how do you see the Championship fight panning out this year? Would Max Verstappen be seen locking horns with Fernando Alonso for the coveted Driver’s Championship until the end of the 2023 season? Or the Dutchman would once again blow his competition away.

There are so many questions that need answering, but once the season is 2-4 races down, the picture would get clearer as to how much of a nuisance Aston Martin could become during the season for Red Bull.
