Red Bull announced their partnership with Ford recently. As Red Bull’s third driver, Daniel Ricciardo made an appearance at the Ford Base fulfilling one of his roles in the team. Ricciardo had the opportunity to sample a few cars on Ford’s test track. The visit to the Ford Headquarters was a chance for the Red Bull team and Ford employees to interact.
Among the cars Ricciardo tested was the Dick Johnson Racing team-built Gen 2 Ford Mustang Supercar. The DJR is an Australian motor racing team. It is one of the oldest teams competing in the Supercars championship. Being an Australian himself, Riccardo was elated to drive the V8 Supercar in Michigan. This was his first time visiting Motor City.
Ford Performance posted a video of the 33-year-old driving a Ford Mustang Supercar. The car is usually driven by Ford’s CEO Jim Farley in demonstration runs. Ricciardo made a few comments on the opportunity presented to him. “I’ve driven pretty much every Ford under the sun and just got out of this bad boy right here,” he said.

“Bit of Aussie in me. A little bit of a V8 Supercars here in Michigan – which is far from home, but I felt at home in it.” “It was a lot of fun. A big thanks to Ford for having me out here.” The driver expressed his gratitude to the company. “It was a lot of fun. A big thanks to Ford for having me out here today, it’s been a blast.” This was the third opportunity for Ricciardo to get behind the wheels of an Aussie V8 racer.
Previously it was during the Australian’s first stint as a Red Bull driver and the second time was with Renault. So this is certainly not his first time in a Supercar. Riccardo was earlier seen at the Red Bull car Launch extending his full support to his new team. He then appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and shared his thoughts on Formula One’s popularity in the States. The driver feels Netflix has contributed to the growth of the sport worldwide.
There is hardly a month for the 2023 season. With many changes in the grid, Riccardo will now be spotted in the Red Bull garage. He aims to perform his role diligently helping out his team, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Though the driver does not have a seat this year, his hands will be full carrying out the duties for the team as per their agreement.
