Charles Leclerc continues to have a rough and disappointing time in F1. The Monegasque driver aimed to win the world championship with Ferrari and bring glory to Maranello. However, the 25-year-old has faced persistent issues that Scuderia has failed to fix. Renowned F1 pundit Peter Windsor reckons that Leclerc could even consider joining Alpine.

Windsor highlighted that Charles’ frustration has grown this season, with the 25-year-old being P7 on the standings due to various issues. The Australian was convinced that the Monegasque driver might leave Ferrari if the Italian team failed to get its act back together. Peter believed that Alpine might seem like a good option to Leclerc. He said, “He may even be thinking: ‘Alpine might be better than this'”.

The F1 pundit pointed out Alpine’s recent improvement in performances, with both Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon getting into Q3 regularly. Ocon even bagged a podium at the Monaco GP. Moreover, Windsor remarked that Charles might be confident that he can help further bolster the Enstone team as he tries to leave Maranello. He said, “He might be thinking like that. He might be that desperate”.

The 76-year-old stated that the top teams, Red Bull and Mercedes do not have a slot to sign up Leclerc. Previously, Charles had ruled out rumors of being in talks with the Silver Arrows. Peter Windsor even believed that the 25-year-old would not lose out by joining a team slower than the Scuderia. As such, Alpine might be an option on the top of the Monegasque’s list.

Although, there is still a long way to go before such a move actually takes place. Charles is working with the team as Maranello tries to match arch-rival Red Bull. The 25-year-old can see the development and the efforts made by the Prancing Horse. This could potentially convince the Monegasque driver to continue on achieving his dream with the Italian team.

Thus, Peter Windsor is convinced that Charles Leclerc is eager to break ties with Maranello. So much so that even a midfield team like Alpine can attract the Monegasque driver’s interest. However, it remains to be seen if the 25-year-old will even be interested in shifting to the Enstone team and leaving behind the most successful team in F1 history.
