“Disrespected his teammate,” Will Buxton blasts Max Verstappen for not helping Sergio Perez during Sao Paulo GP
Will Buxton
Will Buxton, the F1 analyst who has been associated with the sport for many years, after the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, has blatantly blasted the 2022 F1 World Champion, Max Verstappen for not being a team man when Sergio Perez needed his help.
Sergio Perez could have headed into the upcoming Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ahead of Charles Leclerc in the Drivers Championship, but courtesy of Verstappen, the Mexican will now go into the final race of the season level on points with the Monegasque.
During the closing stages of the race at Interlagos, the Dutchman was asked to give his place up in favor of Perez, but Verstappen completely declined team orders, and this infuriated Sergio Perez.
While a lot has already been made of the actions of Verstappen, Will Buxton has also recently weighed in on the situation and bashed the 25-year-old.
While stressing about Verstappen, Buxton added, “And while Max is every bit a deserving two-time champion he showed today he has much to learn about what it is to be a team leader. For everything Checo has done to help his cause, today’s result means nothing to Max in the wider view. Disrespected his teammate and his team.”
Sergio Perez was extremely dissatisfied with Max Verstappen’s antics at the Sao Paulo GP
Max Verstappen might have become the 2022 F1 World Champion, but quite a decent amount of credit also goes to Sergio Perez, for how he supported Verstappen whenever he needed a bit of assistance during the campaign.
Sergio Perez was always there to support Verstappen but when the situation was turned, like at the Sao Paulo GP, Max did not do what Perez has done for him during the season.
Sergio Perez at the end of the race at Interlagos was totally dejected by the actions of Verstappen and while talking to Red Bull, over the team radio, said, “He showed who he truly is.”
The whole of the F1 community was and still is in utter shock at the actions of Max Verstappen, and considering that he has said, he will help Perez in Abu Dhabi if the situation will demand, would he really help his teammate after how he betrayed the Mexican’s trust at Interlagos?
